So just HOW do you get to Blue Waterholes?
You guessed it, this page is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION!. So all I can provide are some basic directions, and a nifty 'ol ASCII map.

The Map

                   \
                    |-------- X <=== BLUE WATERHOLES
                   /
                  / <=== Long plain road (dirt)
      Tumut      /
          X-----
                 \
                 X--------------
                Kiandra         \      Adaminaby
                                 ----------X-------------X Cooma
                                 ( Snowy Mtns HWY)

               ------- or / or \ lines are roads
                <===== is an arrow
              X is a town or place

Not very handy? well I'll try and describe it.

First you need to get yourself onto the Snowy Mountains highway. It will be marked on any map of the area. It connects Cooma to Tumut. Now, drive along this highway till you get to about yarangobilly (another cool area). There are two one-way roads leaving the highway that go to yarangobilly - an access road and an exit road. The road to blue waterholes leaves the snowy mountains highway between these two roads (which are about 6km apart), . (opposite side to yarangobilly). It is a fairly obvious dirt road (muddy when wet) that goes off northward across a large plain ('long plain').There is an information billboard set up by the NPWS at the entrance (which may mention Blue Waterholes), and a gate WHICH IS LOCKED IN WINTER. I think it's closing/opening dates are about the same as the start/end of the ski season.

Getting on this road is the hardest bit. Now, you follow it for about 15km, till there is a turn-off to the right (still dirt) which has another NPWS billboard (which talks about blue waterholes). Take this turnoff. This new road is thinner, and windier, and steeper in spots. There is also a creek crossing which can be a problem after wet weather. You can negotiate this road in a 2WD vehicle, if the weather's good. You may have trouble after a lot of rain. Anyway, follow this road for about 6km and it will take you directly to the camping area at Blue Waterholes. Hope that's straight forward enough.

If you're still unsure you can ask people at adaminaby, or yarangobilly.
