Devil in the Vine
there is a devil in the vine: that is so
but let us not examine the devil?
I believe it is a friendly Incubus
who would do us good, if we could wish it
who stirs the stick in the fermenting pool
and makes a magic happen there
oh yes there is a devil in every bulb
and in the garlic and the onion too
but what else are we to do?
the demon is the spark - it awaits our
wire to fuse or our folly to trip it.
oh but enough of this old moral
where is the corkscrew? there are devils
in every doubt, was that not also said?
