amour

a fragment of mine
long long ago
encountered
a piece of yours

it was the first day of spring

we hooked up
like coloured threads
over a barbed wire
escaping on the wind

and i felt the movement of planets
as our lives coalesced
we dove headlong
into collapsing waves

cancelling each other out

impossible now to sort the pieces
of the past in smithereens
love between us
like a prediction of fair weather

though in other realms
like in our thoughts
parts of us exist apart
or are just meeting for the first time
